Accreditations & Legislation

As electrical contractors we employ and train people in the correct skills, ensuring they are competent to do a quality job. Quality service can only be delivered by well-trained, motivated and empowered personnel supported by the tools needed to do the job right first time, every time.

EMS consider legislation extremely important and that is why we are accredited with major industry recongised bodies. All our engineers must be approved to a minimum qualification of UKPIA and are all 17th Edition qualified. So when you work with us you never have to worry about any Health & Safety legislation. Our 27 years experience will provide you with peace of mind within all aspects of our work.

Our hazardous area electricians are Compex qualified and hold valid UK PIA (Passport to work - health and safety qualification). We carry full public liability insurance for hazardous area environments and operate a strict health and safety policy. We are also an approved contractor with APEA (Association of Petroleum & explosives administration).

Heath & Safety

In order to fulfil our health and safety obligations, Electrical Management Services will actively seek to:

  • Acquire current information regarding Health and Safety legislation, codes of practice, and technical and professional guidance with regard to the company's activities.
  • Ensure all employees are fully informed as to their statutory obligations with regard to Health and Safety. A copy of our Health and Safety Policy will be issued to all new staff and made available as and when updated.
  • For all employees, provide integrated safety training and Health and Safety awareness as an integral component of job training, to ensure their own safety and the safety of others.
  • Actively engage with all employees to work together to create and maintain a Health and Safety compliant working environment. Ensure health and safety compliance is a fundamental part of the company's ethos.

  • Put in place a qualified Health and Safety Officer to continuously monitor all aspects of the company for health and safety compliance. The Health and Safety Officer will be responsible, with the full support of the company, for producing, distributing and ensuring adherence to a robust Health and Safety Policy which will keep pace with current legislation, working experience, professional guidance and official advice.

More than ever, there is a need to take Health & Safety seriously and ensure that you have made suitable arrangements when on your clients' sites - increasingly for many major clients, this is being carried out through SAFE contractor. NICEIC is the electrical contracting industry’s independent voluntary body for electrical installation matters throughout the UK. We offer industry-leading certification services, Building Regulations Schemes, products and support to electrical contractors and many other trades within the construction industry. Association of Petroleum & Explosives Administration. The APEA is a UK based organisation, drawing membership from all quarters of the petroleum industry, including Regulators from National and Local Government Authorities, Oil Companies, Equipment Manufacturers and Suppliers, Service and Installation Organisations, Training Establishments and many others. It is seen to be unique in representing all sides of the industry and in providing a forum for debate and the generation of technical guidance. Over the years local authority health and safety and procurement professionals, with the support of the Health and Safety Executive, have developed the Contractor Health and Safety assessment scheme (CHAS). The scheme is available for use by any public and private sector organizations to use when short listing contractors, suppliers and consultants (companies) who apply to work for them. It provides information about the health and safety part of their application. Companies apply to join the scheme so everyone knows they meet acceptable standards of health and safety compliance. Clients from both the public and private sectors are users of the scheme and our database. The United Kingdom Accreditation Service is the sole national accreditation body recognised by government to assess, against internationally agreed standards, organisations that provide certification, testing, and inspection and calibration services. Accreditation by UKAS demonstrates the competence, impartiality and performance capability of these evaluators.
